This weeks shout out goes to Maren MacDonald. Here is a little bit about Maren’s fitness journey
I was a competitive swimmer throughout high school and college and once it ended I wanted to stay active and competitive. I started to run, doing a few 5k’s here and there and eventually worked my way up to running my first half marathon in 2009. While training off and on for a few races a year, I felt like I needed to be doing more so I began taking group fitness classes. The competitiveness and group setting was exactly what I needed to continue to push myself instead of just passing time on cardio equipment. I liked the group fitness setting so much that I became group fitness certified and began teaching my own spin classes each week. I really enjoy putting together classes each week that will motivate people to work hard. In addition to group fitness I also continue to tweak my run training and have been adding higher mileage weeks in the past few months. I wanted to get more serious about lifting and learn more, and at the same time add more strength to my movements, so I came to Jada Blitz.
Why did you choose Jada Blitz as your fitness facility?
One of my friends had been training here and I came with her one day to see what the classes, facility and training were like. I really like how everyone is so friendly, personable and knowledgable. There is an attitude of hard work but fun at the same time.
How does your trainer motivate you through a workout?
He is able to keep things moving along throughout the workout and is upbeat and energetic the entire time we are working.
What is your favorite body part to train and why?
I like training legs because there are so many different exercises you can do to keep things fresh.
Do you have a go-to jam that gets you pump? What is it?
My favorite work out music is anything Chris Brown.
Favorite pre/ post workout meal
Plain sweet potatoes are my favorite post workout meal.
What is one attribute you love about your trainer?
Mike cares about your goals and and will ask about all the little details in how the aspects of your training are going.
